Alexandria Community Dedicates Ferdinand T. Day Building

On October 18th, the Alexandria community, students, faculty, and staff celebrated the building dedication of the elementary school named for Ferdinand T. Day, a civil rights pioneer and educational trailblazer. When Mr. Day was appointed to the Alexandria City School Board, he became the first African American to be elected chair of a public school board in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He dedicated his career to desegregating Alexandria.

As the construction manager for this exciting new elementary school, MCN Build converted the first four floors of this office building into a state-of-the-art learning and recreational environment and house 650 elementary school students. The Ferdinand T. Day School is seeking LEED Silver Certification.
